Birthday Update...

Before reading this post, please read the one before this...

At 7:30 am, nothing too exciting had happened. Well, at 1:00 pm, that took a different turn that I had hoped for. We were loading into the car, and I was putting Grant into his carseat. I was not sitting in the car when my dad asked my sister, "Where is church?" At this time, I thought to myself, "Gee- he has no idea I am not in the car." Two seconds later, he started driving, and drove over my toes, and while my toes were under the tire, I was knocked to the curb... literally. All that really happened was a scratch on my toes, and a nice scrape on my knee. But I was in a dress, and I think someone saw it happen... ooops. Just thought I would update the birthday stories! My dad ran me over with his rental. The End.

birthdays...

Today is my 24th Birthday (this is Rochelle). I don't know why I always get excited about them, because it's not like I have had some great ones in the past! I just thought it might be fun for everyone to see how my last few birthdays have gone... then help me explain why I continue to get excited! (this blog is for laughs, not for pitty :)

TODAY (2008)-24- I am in Utah with Grant, and Ben is still in Idaho finishing up the final details of moving. 24 without the love of my life.

2007-23- Ben had spent two and a half weeks in Chile for a Jazz Band tour with the school. So when he came home (on my birthday), it was a WELCOME HOME BEN DAY, not so much a- ROCHELLE IS 23 DAY! (Plus, I was about 7 weeks pregnant, and I did NOT feel well.... thanks a lot Grant. One day, I will laugh when you get sick... j/k!)

2006-22- Ben and I were dating (yeah... finally someone who liked me!), but I had to check out of my apartment and move into a new one. THEN we drove down to Utah. I think we pulled in around midnight- but still- no Birthday party then either.

2005-21- This one is funny. Aside the fact that I didn't know Ben existed yet (which was torture everyday...!!!), I was in the San Rafael (sp?) Desert... that's right- the desert. I decided to go on a month long trip with some classmates (for credit) to Southern Utah. The three days we did DESERT SURVIVAL (and I mean survival- we were looking for water, eating Biscuit Root, and we walked in the sand FOREVER!), my 21st birthday fell upon the middle of those days. So while my friends back home were toasting to their 21st birthday, I had a crown of wild flowers, and an ash-cake with saved M&Ms from my peers (yes- ash cake. You make the batter and literally stick it onto the ashes, cook, brush, and eat!)


2004-20- I don't remember much- other than not being able to do what my roommates had planned, and I was bummed, so I think we ate all our food in the cupboards before we checked out of our apartment.

2003-19- My first year at college... I was driving home to Chicago. Yep- on the road. However, I do remember coming home around midnight, to find Riley and Laurel snuggling on the couch. Scoobs (Laurel) wanted to jump out of a box and surprise me but it got too late, so the two of them fell asleep on the couch.

Well, hope you enjoyed the past few Birthdays. It's 7:30 am, so let's see how the day goes!!

ROAD TRIP

So we went on a nice road trip to Phoenix, Yuma, Thousand Oaks, and Bakersfield! These pictures are just a few. Grant is a GREAT traveler... He only gets fussy when he's hungry, got a burp, or tired. We are really blessed. Well, enjoy the pictures!

This is Grant and Mattson (Nicki's son). They are twins. When they are sleeping, you really can't tell a difference!

RAWHIDE!  We went to this Wild West town where we had a lot of fun!  Ben was arrested by the town's sherriff for freeloading and sang a "perdy" little song for him before he could leave!

Grant's first time IN a pool!  Back in December, he just slept by the poolside at our hotel, but he actually got into it this time.  The water was freezing, but he didn't seem to mind one bit!

After a while in the sun, Grant got a bit tired. He didn't know what to do with all the sun and heat! 

Graduation...?

I finally graduated!  That's right folks, nine years and ten months after my high school graduation, I finally have a Bachelor's degree!  It's not the BMA I'd been hoping for, but at this point I'll take whatever I can get.  Apparently I'm in the 120th graduating class from BYU-Idaho/Ricks College.  It feels good to finally finish!  Now we'll have to see if there are any Graduate programs out there who will accept me...

Car Troubles

So, we are trying to get to Arizona to visit my older sister and her family,

 but guess what!?  The AC isn't working!  So we have to wait at least 

till Monday so we can get it fixed... yeah- with all the money we seem 

to have! j/k  So here we are, stuck in Utah, waiting. Waiting to get a tan. 

Waiting to go swimming. Waiting waiting waiting.  Sad :(

Random Sampler

Obviously, we just can't get enough of Grant. So- we are responding to the request to add more pictures! Plus, I am sure people are sick of the balding mad with the combover.

Look carefully, Grant has his legs crossed. Cute.

I had to use the rest room, so I put Grant on the bed in front of the mirror.  This is one of his favorite things to do- admire himself!  He's just like his Uncle Riley... haha.

Before Grant was born, my sister Holly brought me this cute Umbro outfit with the England National Soccer team on it.  It's REALLY big on him, but he looks great!  It looks like he's practicing his kicks!

Grant is gaining control over his hands and arms, and while he eats, he likes to hold the bottle up by himself.  Hey- if we don't have to hold it ... why would we?!  Notice that his pacifier is in his other hand... nice.

Grant is eating Ben's hand, and Ben is eating Grant's hand! Oh the bonding :)

Balding...

So, how many of you think that Ben is posting this one?! Well, it's me- Rochelle. I am loosing my hair! Does anyone remember how much hair I used to have!? Well, now, I am embarrased to say that it's falling out like it's going out of style. If you have had a child, you will understand... I hope you understand! I guess when you are pregnant and your body is CRAZY full of hormones, your hair doesn't fall out! So- when they pull the child from your body and send it home with you, you start to loose it. I have a natural receding hair line look- becuase that is what my parents bequeathed to me, but now, I think I may have to start doing this:


So, if you notice that you can see my scalp- IT IS GRANT'S FAULT! Hahaha
